Behind the original concept for Barolo, there is the need to orient different shades in a single direction. In fact, the most classic producers have always avoided putting the individual expression of the vineyard ahead of the choral vision, capable of restoring an idea of coherence and integration right from the beginning.
It is on the wave of this traditional impetus, then, that we decided to make the two faces of the appellation – the kind one of the region’s western slope and the more austere one typical of the land looking east – coexist in the same glass. The decision to sketch the lineaments of an entire terroir in a single wine gives us a bold liquid, rich and virile, capable of exhibiting its character in youth and challenging its development with the right impulse.
James Suckling – 94 points
Very floral and attractive already on the nose. Bright and clean fruit on the palate with medium body, dusty and fine tannins and a chewy finish. Solid and age-able. From organically grown grapes. Very well made for the vintage. Best after 2024.
Wine Advocate – 93 points
The organic 2018 Barolo falls in line with vintage expectations with a very smooth and silky personality that caresses the palate. Dark rose, cherry and licorice cede to a polished, mid-weight palate.
Wine Spectator – 92 points
A round red, boasting plum, cherry, mint, iron and tar flavors. The tannins are firm but meld nicely already at this young stage, leaving room for an aftertaste of fruit, savory, earth and mineral notes on the finish. Best from 2024.
