More than just a collaboration: it is a Champagne ‘sur mesure‘ (bespoke Champagne), a liquid masterpiece born from the shared vision of two culinary and vinicultural powerhouses: the innovative SA Chef Wandile Mabaso and the esteemed, family-owned Champagne Duval-Leroy.
Chef Wandile Mabaso, renowned for his sophisticated, contemporary African Haute cuisine and deep appreciation for global fine dining, sought to create a Champagne that would perfectly complement his culinary philosophy—a blend of heritage, precision, and unforgettable flavour.
To realize this vision, he partnered with Duval-Leroy, a pioneering house in Vertus, France, celebrated for its finesse, sustainability, and exceptional vineyard holdings. Led by the remarkable ‘Femme de Champagne‘ Carol Duval-Leroy, the house granted Chef Mabaso the rare privilege of working directly with their Cellar Master Sandrine Logette to hand-select and blend the components in their comprehensive library.
The result is a Champagne with a distinct South African taste signature, yet distinctive expression of French soil. This cuvée, personally blended by Chef Mabaso, is a true expression of cross-continental terroir and taste, designed to elevate moments and redefine celebration. It is an extremely limited, one-of-a-kind import, offering exclusivity at the intersection of haute cuisine and legendary Champagne tradition.
The Duval Leroy family has been perfecting the quality of its non vintage Brut Reserve, balancing passion with an aesthetic sensibility. It is in this product that one can feel the unique power and character which marks out a top of the range champagne Consistency, expertise and a creative spirit ensure a success which needs no further demonstration.
The specific components selected by Chef Wandile Mabaso have driven a Pinot Noir dominated blend for a versatile body, with dashes of Meunier and Chardonnay for seductiveness and finesse. Enriched with a generous quantity of reserve wines and disgorged as Brut (7g RS/L), it unravels the complexity and precision Chef is famous for.

Appearance
A luminous, pale-gold hue with soft reflections. The mousse is persistent and elegant, forming a fine, delicate bead that rises slowly to the surface.
Nose
The initial impression is complex and inviting. It opens with bright, refreshing notes of apple, white peach, and citrus zest. As it breathes, layers of development emerge, showcasing classic elegance: a subtle presence of toasted brioche, roasted almond, and a hint of honeycomb from extended time on the lees.
