Description
A Cooperative, LeViteColte project involves one hundred and eighty winegrowers, who cultivate three hundred hectares of vineyard.
Vite Colte is made up of people who strongly believe in a shared concept of quality, where the responsibility of individuals is an integral part of the final result. Winegrowers, partners, friends. The members of ViteColte are “accomplices” in a project that demands dedication to quality which is every bit as strict as the protocols implemented in its pursuit. Every winegrower is remunerated on the basis of the size of the vineyard and not the quantity of product, in order to obtain the highest level of quality.
The ViteColte protocol has only just one goal: an absolute and constant quality standard, the result of agronomic choices aimed at sustainable, selective vineyard management focused on achieving perfectly ripe fruit.
Every winegrower complies with the protocol, taking prompt action in the vineyard and defining and monitoring the progress of their work in close contact with the company’s team of agronomists.
Barolo DOCG Riserva “Essenze” is a blended Barolo of the highest quality, made only in the finest vintages. While vinification is traditional, the estate’s personal style, which focuses on creating full bodied, fruity and very well balanced wines, is clearly recognisable.
Following a long period of “submerged cap” maceration for about 25 days, malolactic fermentation takes place in steel. The wine then ages in oak barrels up to 36 months before the final blending and bottling. The final stage is the bottle ageing.
Grape variety: Nebbiolo
Alcohol: 14.50 % vol.
Appellation: Barolo Riserva DOCG
Aging: Up to 36 months in oak barrels
Colour: deep ruby red, tending towards garnet.
Bouquet: ethereal, with scents of violet, blackberry jam, liquorice and cloves.

James Suckling – 93 points
Deep, broody red and darker berries on the nose, together with floral and leathery notes. Full-bodied with grainy tannins that are soaked in spice and fruit. Starting to be approachable now, but should continue to age gracefully. Best from 2023.
