Description
A Cooperative, Le ViteColte project involves one hundred and eighty winegrowers, who cultivate three hundred hectares of vineyard.
Vite Colte is made up of people who strongly believe in a shared concept of quality, where the responsibility of individuals is an integral part of the final result. Winegrowers, partners, friends. The members of ViteColte are “accomplices” in a project that demands dedication to quality which is every bit as strict as the protocols implemented in its pursuit.
Every winegrower is remunerated on the basis of the size of the vineyard and not the quantity of product, in order to obtain the highest level of quality.
The ViteColte protocol has only just one goal: an absolute and constant quality standard, the result of agronomic choices aimed at sustainable, selective vineyard management focused on achieving perfectly ripe fruit.
Every winegrower complies with the protocol, taking prompt action in the vineyard and defining and monitoring the progress of their work in close contact with the company’s team of agronomists.
The grapes come from vineyards in the municipality of Barolo, at altitudes between 280 and 380 metres above sea level. The soils are of marine sedimentary origin, dating back to the “Piedmont Tertiary Basin”, and are characterised by the presence of sedimentary calcareous clay marl, alternating layers of marl and sand or sandstone, with a prevalence of Sant’Agata Marl (silty grey clay based sedimentary rock, which can sometimes be bluish and contains varying quantities of limestone).
This terroir produces wines which become elegant, aromatic and balanced within 3-4 years. Harvesting is followed by alcoholic fermentation, with maceration on skins for about 20 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in steel.
The wine then ages in small oak barrels up to 24 months.

James Suckling – 93 points
Ripe plums with berries, walnuts, leather and hints of spice. It’s full-bodied with round, chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Very tannic. Solid. Needs at least three or four years to soften. Try after 2024.
Wine Enthusiast – 90 points
Underbrush, black-skinned berry and spice aromas waft out of the glass. The tightly wound palate offers sour cherry, star anise and black pepper alongside close-grained tannins. Drink 2024–2033.
