Description
The Champagne COLLARD-PICARD has been founded in 1996. It gets its exceptional character in the course of two champagne families which operate two noble terroirs: the right bank of the Marne Valley for the COLLARD branch and the Côte des Blancs for the PICARD family. The ancestral know-how of these real craftsmen has been transmitted for two centuries, from generation to generation. Lending an ear to nature in order to understand and to sublimate her, Olivier and Caroline accompany with smoothness through daily care and an as natural approach as possible (ploughing, grassing, organic fertilizing…). With its address at 15 Avenue de Champagne in EPERNAY, the grower and harvester family company COLLARD-PICARD is guided by an absolute requirement in terms of quality. “More than a family history, a true passion”.
The COLLARD-PICARD Cuvées express the best of yesterday through the winemaking in oak casks, without malolactic fermentation, in association with the contemporary search for perfection by the selection of the “hearts of cuvées” and low temperature clearing in thermoregulated casks. In every glass, The epicurian amateur, looking for subtile and various sensations, will be happy. Finesse and elegance, fruitness, diversity and generosity of the champagne terroir show a wonderful allegory.
This Blanc de Noirs Champagne derives exclusively from the first batch of grape juice ‘Cuvee’. A blend of 50% Meunier, 50% Pinot Noir from the Vallee la Marne, it was blended with reserve wines matured in oak barrels.
After 4 to 5 years ageing in the cellars, this cuvee is ready to be enjoyed as a fruity Champagne with refined effervescence.
The nose is crisp and lively and attractively enriched by notes of brioche and apple pastry tart. The palate is fine and elegantly textured, with a gentle mousse and flavours of ripe apples, green pears and shortbread. Fantastic structure and depth of flavour.
Decanter – 92 points
A proportion of oaked reserve wines in the mix gives this organic Meunier blend (with 50% Pinot Noir) unusual richness – buttery apple tatin, cut by sprightly acidity. Fine, silky bubbles. Meunier at its most luxurious
