Description

The Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné was created in 1834 through the magical conjunction of a fertile land on a hillside by the Rhone and a family with a passion for winemaking.

Famed through the Hermitage La Chapelle, over the years the Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné took ownership of the finest appellations of the northern Rhone Valley, applying organic and biodynamic principles since taken over by the Frey family, ensuring a legacy in both vineyards and incredible wines.

Parallèle 45 is named after the famous latitude where great wines are born worldwide. It spans across France and passes over the cellars of Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné.

Grape Variety – Grenache/ Syrah / Mouvèdre / Marselan/ Carignan

Age of the Vines – 40 years

Soils – Clayey limestone and alluvial deposits composed of round pebbles.

Vinification – Hand-picked at maturity. The mixed grape varieties are co-fermented with the grenache to fix the colour and the tannins. Syrah is vinified separately with maceration and soft extraction that last about 3 weeks

Ageing – Aged for 6 months in stainless steel vats and truncated cone-shaped vats on fine lees.

The generosity and deliciousness of this blend reveal fruity aromas, subtly elevated by selected grapes varieties with delicate spice notes for a delightfully fresh finish.

Pairing – Charcuterie platter, Moussaka, eggplant parmigiana, Grilled & roasted meats, Steak tartare

Serving – 16C

Best enjoyed within 2-3 years

James Suckling – 90 points

A good advertisement for the 2021 vintage in the Rhone this has stacks of red fruit and spice aromas, including a touch of pepper. Notes of licorice and sandalwood on the palate where the restrained tannins neatly fit with the generous fruit. Moderately dry finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
